After minor modifications, the aircraft was flown to RNAS Eastchurch, where full-speed trials were made. A third flight on 31 December revealed a number of control problems, the ailerons and elevators were effective but heavy, partly due to excessive friction in the control circuit and the rudders were seriously overbalanced. This was blamed on the drag caused by large honeycomb radiators, which were changed to tube radiators mounted on either side of the engine nacelles. A second flight was made the following day, when it was found that the aircraft would not fly faster than about 55 mph (89 km/h). The first flight of the prototype, was made at Hendon on 17 December, when a short straight flight was made, the aircraft taking off without trouble at 50 mph (80 km/h). The four prototypes and first production batch of six aircraft were built at Cricklewood, with the first aircraft delivered by road to Hendon on 9 December 1915. The structure of the fuselage and flying surfaces was primarily spruce, with the spars routed into I-beams to reduce weight. To clear the wing rigging wires when the wings were folded, the rear portions of the fairings were hinged to fold inward. The nacelles had a long tapered fairing to reduce drag. The engines drove four-bladed propellers, rotating in opposite directions to cancel the torque, and were enclosed in armoured nacelles mounted between the wings on tubular steel struts. Balanced ailerons were fitted to the upper wing only and extended beyond the wing trailing edge and wing tips. The O/100 was an unequal-span three-bay biplane, with the overhanging part of the upper wing braced by kingposts, a rectangular section fuselage and a biplane tail with twin balanced rudders, between the horizontal surfaces. One of the engines with a four-bladed propeller. The design was approved on 4 February 1915, with 250 hp (190 kW) Rolls-Royce Eagle engines and on 9 February the contract was amended to include eight additional aircraft. The designation O/100 came from Handley Page's sequence of using letters for each of their designs, with 100 for the proposed wingspan of the aircraft. The crew of two were to be enclosed in a glazed cockpit and the only defensive armament planned was a rifle for the observer/engineer. It was to carry six 100 lb (45 kg) bombs and have armour to protect crew and engines. It called for a large biplane powered by two 150 hp (110 kW) Sunbeam engines, which was required to fit in a 75 ft × 75 ft (23 m × 23 m) hangar and would therefore have folding wings. Handley Page suggested a land-based aircraft of similar size, and a specification drawn up around his suggestions was formally issued on 28 December 1914 for four prototypes. The AD Seaplane Type 1000 prototype had already been commissioned from J. Coastal patrol adaptations of the abortive Handley Page L/200, M/200 and MS/200 designs were initially discussed but Sueter's technical advisor favoured a large seaplane for coastal patrol and dockyard defence that would also be capable of bombing the German High Seas Fleet at its base in Kiel. The phrase was originated by Commander Charles Rumney Samson, who had recently returned from the front. Sueter requested "a bloody paralyser of an aircraft" for long-range bombing. Design HP O/400 with wings foldedĭesign work began shortly after the start of the First World War following meetings between Captain Murray Sueter, the director of the Air Department of the Royal Navy, and Frederick Handley Page. The Type O made such an impression that for many years after the war any large aircraft in Britain was referred to as a "Handley Page", even getting a dictionary entry. Some aircraft were temporarily diverted to anti-submarine reconnaissance and bombing in the Tees estuary in 1917 and two aircraft operated in the eastern Mediterranean. The aircraft were used in France for tactical night attacks on targets in German-occupied France and Belgium and for strategic bombing of industrial and transport targets in the Rhineland. There were two main variants, the Handley Page O/100 (H.P.11) and the Handley Page O/400 (H.P.12). When built, the Type O was the largest aircraft that had been built in the UK and one of the largest in the world. The Handley Page Type O was a biplane bomber used by Britain during the First World War.

The Gothic style font has a Germanic origin. They can be used for a variety of projects such as vintage book covers, heavy metal posters, classic apparel, etc. Old English fonts, such as the Gothic typeface are the perfect font to use when you want to portray a vintage look, heavy metal, or classical feel. The combination of straight, round, and embellished letters forms a very interesting font. That is the reason you sometimes see letters embellished with additional strokes. To prevent blank spaces, the scribes started to embellish the Gothic letters with lines or extra glyphs. This causes white space between the letters. The rounder shapes are wider and therefore the letters have a less uniform width than the straighter versions. These versions add more interest to the uniform straightness that was once more common. Over the years, rounder variations of the font have developed. Some people might consider it monotonous and boring but it is a matter of taste. Most of the Gothic letters have a definite angularity or straightness. If you are set on using this blackletter font and legibility is important then use the lower case letters (Minuscules) as often as possible since they are much easier to read (see the image above). Therefore, if legibility is important, then this might not be the best font for you. However, many of the Gothic fonts are illegible if you are not familiar with the font, particularly the uppercase letters (Majuscules). Gothic letters are beautiful, precise, formal, and decorative. There are many styles of Gothic lettering font. This sample includes caps and lowercase to show you both options. There are other Gothic text options available and this is only one example. The most common reference signals used in volleyball are hand signals, whistle signals, and verbal signals. Examples of such violations include foot faults, net violations, or double contacts. References signals in volleyball are used by the referees to indicate a violation or fault that has occurred during the match. What Are The References Signals In Volleyball? It is critical that players, coaches, and fans understand the various signals used by referees in order to comprehend the game. The referee must use these signals to ensure that the game is fair and well-conducted. A referee who points at the corner flag with his arm in an upward direction is signaling for a corner kick. During a soccer game, there are numerous other signals used by referees. This is the first referee’s signal, and the second referee should repeat it to determine who won the rally. Keeping the hand open and palm facing forward, hold the arm straight out from the shoulder and parallel to the floor. The hand signal for a rally winner is an important sign for referees on the field of soccer. While the exact hand signals used vary by sport, they are an essential part of any referee’s toolkit. Common hand signals used by referees include a fist to indicate a personal foul, a fist and a point to indicate an unsportsmanlike conduct foul, a rotating motion to indicate a delay of game, a cross to indicate a technical foul, a T to indicate a time-out, and a hand pointed up to indicate the end of a period or game. Referees use hand signals to indicate various outcomes or events in a game, such as fouls, violations, penalties, and the end of a period or game. Hand signals are a crucial part of refereeing any sport. During a volleyball match, referees and coaches can ensure that the match is accurate and clear by following these simple hand signals. When the referee informs the team that will serve the next, he should raise both arms vertically, palm forward, and make a circular motion with his forefinger, pointing his arms and fingers toward the floor. The referee should mark the first digit (6, 7, 8 or 9) on two hands with a slight pause before displaying the remaining digits on the left hand. The referee should raise his hands eight fingers in a circle for the numbers 61-65, 71-75, 81-85, and 91-95 to indicate the number of points scored. The referee should extend his arm to the side of the team to which he will serve to indicate the direction of service. Hand signals are commonly used to indicate the direction of service, the number of points scored, and the team to serve the next. It is critical that all hand signals are properly and precisely executed so that they can be used in order to achieve accuracy and clarity. Hand signals are an important tool used by both referees and coaches during indoor volleyball matches. When the ball passes completely beneath the net between the two net posts, extend your arm and point with your index finger to the center of the line. Brush the finger tips of the other hand once, then brush them once more. Place your arm on the side of the team that touched the ball to make it 90 degrees. 2/4/2024 0 Comments Hand signals in volleyballReading opponent's signals: Defensive hand signals can also help you decipher the opponent's offensive plays or signals, allowing you to adjust your defensive strategy accordingly.Defensive positioning: Hand signals can indicate specific defensive formations, such as a shift to the left or right, a rotation, or a change in blocking strategy. Here are three key ways in which defensive hand signals can benefit your team: By using defensive hand signals, you can communicate quickly and silently with your teammates, ensuring everyone is in the right position and ready to defend.
